The DREAM

The dream, of course, is a rather large one, but I like the idea and would really love to be able to implement it.

I see a building with many rooms, each catering to different disciplines. Each room has the resources needed, both equipment and materials.

One room might contain an electronics lab, another sewing machines and leatherwork, another pottery, woodworking, and such. Other rooms are set up for specific subjects: a maths room, a physics room, a philosophy room, etc. Volunteer lecturers teach bite-sized portions of the subjects so that you can choose what to join and for how long. The rooms are built with the subject materials and resources to explore and study.

With so many practical and theoretical rooms, this gives birth to collaboration between different specialities, culminating in creating full and complete things. Just imagine the electronic person going to the haberdashery section and finding someone to help with sewing up a design that their electronic projects fit in, or the 3D print side, or metal work.... People working and helping each other out.

Products that are made can then also be sold through the shop, so that there is a return for both the makers and the centre to thrive.

I want to create a maker/education centre like no other before......

Its a big dream, but I like big dreams.....
